The Color Wheel:

The color wheel activity I used with both middle and high school
students is based on the "creative color wheel" in ArtTalk by Rosalind
Ragans, published by Glencoe. It's in both the old and new versions of
this art text.

In this activity students use radial symmetry to create a
mandala-like, original color wheel. A design is created for a
pie-shaped wedge, then repeated aroung the circle in the correct color
relationships. The example shown in the textbook uses sailboats, but
it could be done with almost any recognizeable images or with
nonobjective designs.
