I have been enjoying the many good letters and discussions on the list
lately but been too busy to part take much. However I was wondering if
anyone has done something with the colourweel and a Mandala. I have a
project with my students where they make a Mandala and make different
designs using letters from the alphabet (f.ex. V, M, X, Y, K etc.). They
divide the circle with circular lines in several parts and fill each part
with one design that they then colour with two colours each design. Then we
put each Mandala on the wall with a nail through the middle and when you
spin it you can see the colours mix. I donīt know if this is clear enough
but it is a lot of fun and helps students reinforce what they have learned
in colour theory and also about designs.
And another question to the list. Does anyone know of Art Schools for
children somewhere in the U.S.A., or is it something you donīt have. We
have a lot of them in Scandinavia. I am going to a seminar and workshops
for teachers and children, in Finland in October, they are celebrating 15
years anniversary of the organization of Art
Schools for children and youth and inviting teachers and students from each
counrty in Scandinavia. So I am curious to find out if there are any such
schools in the States. Thank you and best regards from the North, Rosa
