I worked with "special needs" children for 4 years, exclusively. I highly
recommend discussing each child with the resource teacher or reading their
file so you know best how to help them to learn. Each child is very
different. The emotionally handicapped can be especially trying and it is
best to knoow as much about their case as possible. "Restraining" can be
very upsetting to the other children or to observers, but is done so the
child does not hurt themselves or other children around them. Hopefully,
the other children have some understanding before restraining is a
necessary option. These children are VERY special in many ways and have
been my favorites over the years. Enjoy!
