Re: "special needs" students

I agree that special needs students should be treated like all other
students. I have many special ed kids throughout the day and I don't even
know that they are special ed. I do have one class of self-contained
special ed kids that come in with their teacher ( there are 8 of them and
they mix with my 16 regular students). I talk in the same way, give the
same assignments and try to give the same amount of help. I do give them
a break if their teacher tells me that they need it, but I find that they
really want to be like everyone else and will do their best to not be
noticed. I have an emotionally disturbed girl that is coming next
rotation who has violent episodes and the teachers/administrators *usually
about 4 of them* are supposed to sit on her till she calms down--hmmm.
Can't wait.
