Hi, Jann, before I read your message, I replied to:

who basically asked the same question.

As a result of my undergraduate painting classes, I did learn a LOT
about color and design, which I guess I should have given the teacher
credit for.

When the teacher I have now critiques my work, he knows my work well
enough to know what I am trying to accomplish...and he quickly points
out where it's not working and what I need to do to correct it. He
compares these weak areas to the strong areas of the painting that do
"WORK", in order to show me the difference.
