I like the studio critique/teaching abilities of instructors conversation.
I went back to school (graduated '91) to get a degree in art after working
as an artist for ten years. I was interested in teaching art and also in
"art school." The instructors for the most part were unable to deal with
the mature students or those students with experience. The critiques were
horrible. Only one teacher, a woman whose reputation as an artist was very
challenging, accepted me at my level and encouraged me from there. This was
very unlike the male teachers who were so easily threatened and who told me
"your cup is already full." This is really poor teaching, but they were
"well-known" artists and therefore absolved. Peggy
