This topic has generated many wonderful ideas that I plan to incorporate
into my own teaching. Thanks! In Texas, the holiday celebration has an
immediate meaning for mnay of our children are hispanic. In areas where
violence has happened, altars are set up in the main hallways of the school
to honor those who have died that year. I went to a workshop given in a
school the year that Selena died. There was a huge altar dedicated to her
as well as others.

Many schools have 100% involvement with the holiday.

There is great book out describing pictorally which does include text
describing the holiday in rich detail.

The Days of the Dead by Rosalind Rosoff Beimler. I would strongly suggest
purchasing this book.
