Mark Alexander: Yes, the Day of the Dead is a two-day celebration in
Mexico November 1 and 2. All over Mexico, the people happily welcome
home the spirits of the dead. For this festival, special bread and
candies are made in the shapes of skeletons and skulls. There are also
many skeleton toys and decorations that children can buy at this time.
I took alot of Spanish in high school and college.
Mexican artist Jose' Guadalupe Posada made a print about a hundred years
ago of this popular Mexican holiday showing skeltons dancing.
Hans Holbein the Younger , put together a book called The Dance of Death,
which contains about 40 illustrations of skeltons in everyday situations.
Concerning Art as play; I don't consider art as play but learning new
skills in a different subject, exploring my ideas and self-expression.
Bill Chandler: Thank-you for your encouragement.
