Apparently, no one actively teaching was on the committee that wrote those criteria. Keeping
individual written files on each student is NOT "effective teaching." It is simply busy work
dumped on the teachers to make it look like the state is doing something about education.
I was talking at lunch today with a North American teacher and two Ecuadorians. The N.A.
teacher and I both agreed we would never teach in the U.S. again, and we discouraged the
Ecuadorians from teaching there, as well. We just can't imagine putting up with the NCLB BS
anymore. We really appreciate the professional atmosphere and autonomy we have here.
