I use The ART Book , by Phaidon Press. It is a small but thick paperback
with 1 page bios on a great number of artists. It was given to me by a
parent as a gift but is available on Amazon. It is alphabetical which I
find convenient. Note: some photos and info are not appropriate for
elem. but I read from it to them and pick and choose the information based
on the age-appropriateness.

Subject: [teacherartexchange] Biographies on Artists Needed
I have taken a new position in my district at the high school level
where reading strategies are a main focus ( forced by NCLB.)The
students I am working with this year are a very mixed ability group. I
have a text that I must use , one which I think is very well written ,
but some of the artist references need additional background. I am
looking for a collection of artist biographies that are written at a
middle elementary level, possibly one to two pages in length per
artist. Does anybody have any sources for me? I would appreciate them
so I could stay on target with the school's improvement plan.
