[teacherartexchange] Tapped In and Hurricane Response Efforts

In response to the disaster and its aftermath from Hurricane Katrina,
Tapped In has created a Hurricane Central Group Room. The purpose of the
group is to provide resources and collaboration opportunities among
effected schools and those schools wanting to contribute to the relief
efforts. Ideas include adopting a classroom or school, providing online
classes or lesson plans for overcrowded classrooms and community
resource centers (CRC), data collection about the effected schools to
assess the current situation and to predict future solutions, and
establish a lesson plan bank that can be used by K-12 teachers for
teaching hurricane preparedness, weather, and emotional support in a
crisis situation.

The Tapped In community hopes you will join the Hurricane Central Group
and contribute what resources you can. There are already a few resources
and ideas that have been placed in folders in the HC Group room. Knowing
that the resolution of the major educational issues will not be reached
quickly, the focus for this long-term project should be on Project Based
Learning that allows Tapped In to do what it does best?.provide a
community in which educators can work together and support each other to
overcome the challenges that K-12 educators face. It is hoped that the
March 2006 Tapped In Mini-Expo will be a showcase of what has been
accomplished at that point by the Tapped In community.
