I just finished putting the 5th grade hand mandalas, some geometric
mandalas, 3rd grade oil pastel still lifes, and the 2nd grade bleached
line drawings on our site. Whew! I was so pleased with the hand
mandalas. Definitely a keeper!!! Thanks to all who gave me so much
advice prior to doing them. I am going to teach that same lesson to
faculty during inservice in January. Can't wait. I still can't believe
5th graders worked contentedly in silence for two weeks worth of double
periods to do those. We listened to Carlos Nikai while we did them.
They seem a bit like self portraits in some cases. I made one too, but
haven't quite finished. Such a satisfying project to do, if I do say so
myself, lol. we definitely found "the zone!" I just have great kids
this year. Patient, hard working, high expectations, and they are
feeding off of each other. I LOVE it when that happens. I'm counting
blessings right now.
