Yes,

I did this, too. ACMoore's and Michael's have rolls of unprimed canvas and
when you get a 40% or 50% off one item, it's really economical.

Oops, I forgot, I bought a roll of canvas and cut it to make mats ( 12x12
approx) for the kids to work on. Works great.
