The ten second tidy is great. By the middle of kindergartners' first year
all I have to do is start counting and they start cleaning. I like to call
the waiting teacher in when I accidentally run late, and I say, "Watch
this!" Then I start counting and in ten seconds, voila, ready to go. They
get really good at it by second grade.

Subject: Re: cleanup trick (10 second tidy)
I have more trouble getting the little ones to clean up so I tell them "10
second tidy!" and I count to 10 (slowly) and they clean up the room.
Sometimes it will turn into a 20 second tidy if the room is very messy. I
also have them pick up a specific number of things and they run up to show
me their little bits of trash. They are so cute!
