I am doing Ken Schwab's fractured reality with my 7/8th graders when I had
one overachieving student get done way before the others.
At midnite I got this great idea for a new project for her while the others
finish.
In our 11 story old building in downtown Dallas we have a rather "abandoned"
fourth floor.
For at least 3 years there has been a large mirror on the wall that had been
broken by a broom handle or something and it created a center that all the
broken pieces radiated from. I thought it would be cool to take a digital
camera down there and have someone photograph this girl's portrait and she could
use it to do a cubistic self portrait. She was really excited about it,
partly because this floor is rumored to be "haunted" because it has not been
used for ages.
The day I sent them down, wouldn't you know it, the mirror had been
repaired!!!
AHhhh
too bad but kind of a funny story under the "shattered images" title.
