I am dealing with this problem right now. After three years of escalation bad behavior (the parent says the student is diagnosed with ADHD) I am meeting the with parent and child to take back control of my classroom...no more miss nice person! (not that I really ever was!). I am moving that student to his own private work space with his own supplies and set of written directions. There will be a very clearly defined set of consequences....escalating to his removal from the Art Class room. My VP has okayed this, I am meeting with my principal today...and the parent and child in a day or so.
Very important to keep track (better yet document) all the strategies you try so when you have to make a stand, folks are behind you!
