I have my Art Club for fifth graders only...never had as many as 30 or 40 ( I
would limit the numbers just for safety sake). If you really have that big
an interest...why not make it a little more exclusive...say limit to 25...and
have a waiting list...if you miss 3 times...soemone else takes your
place...That might make attendence a little better and get the more serious takers.

I am a little more flexible because I can be. I run my club all year
long...many times kids will drop out to take an after school class for 8 weeks or be
in a play....they come back when they are done. We do community service
projects (murals for concerts, parade float for UN Day parade, things for
meals-on-wheels, poster for events if asked...etc) and the students explore art media
they are interested in. The Art Club kids also get to be docents at our annual
art club. There is no fee...as it is a school sponsored club...not a PTA
After school activity.
