Here is a lesson idea that was inspired by the Women
Beyond Borders (box exhibit):
VSA Arts selected a basic 4" cardboard box - and the
children have altered it:

"a collection of original boxes from over 52 countries
that expresses these young artist's ideas, dreams, and
visions"
Wow! Thanks, Judy! This is a visual treat- a feast for the eyes- a boxed
lunch!! I just had the best time appreciating the originality and creativity
for these kids. I just loved what the kids came up with for their box creations
and I think the exhibit should have been titled "Thinking Outside the Box".
Ironically, I just unpacked white boxes (I believed they are called "Decorate
Me Boxes") which I ordered from Sax with the idea similiar to this exhibit.
Each 5th grader will turn their box into a personal expression or message. I
ordered the sturdy white boxes with the vision of displaying each uniquely
transformed box into a interrelated group exhibit.
