I think you will be amazed at how little you can purchase for $ 2,500. First get fast computers, Pentium 4 . Do not by the cheaper Celeron processor. Scanner: "Epson 1660 photo" this has get resolution and you can scan photo negatives. (accompanying software is not real user friendly until you get the hang of it.) Digital camera: Sony makes cameras that use a 31/2 inch floppies to store images. This allows for easy transfer to any computer in the building. Most printers are photo quality anymore, Lexmark as reasonably priced. Canon S9000 make a super printer that will print 11x13 ($500). Has individual color ink cartridges. You can get computer ready 32" and lager TV monitors ($1,200) Or get a "Scan It!" device that will allow you to use any TV as a monitor.

Software is as important as hardware. PhotoShop Elements is wonderful. Simple to teach and use. Has a lot of image manipulation capability.
