Sharon, I started a graphic class for 8th graders 2 years ago. My budget was 2,500 to start it. I bought two sony mavica cameras, around $400 each, a scanner was given to me, Umax Astra 1600U, around $25.I bought Photo Shop Elements for 20 computers (for the lab I'm assigned to that hour) that cost about $450. I bought a colored printer, an Epson c60, about $80. Don't forget $ for ink. I also do clay animation with stop action and I borrow 4 other cameras and have the kids work in groups. I can't remember what the clay cost. I bought tripods for about $25. each. Hope this gives you an idea. I can't believe the wonderful help I got from this list as I set up lessons.

Subject: computer tech help

  Calling all Computer Experts,

I just received a grant for grant for $ 2,500.00. This is to set up a
computer art program for 8th grade students. Needless to say my school
  is behind the times.

They gave me one student computer with windows 98 and an Epson Sylus C80
  color printer.

What are the must haves to begin this program ? I was thinking that we
need a digital camera and a flat bed scanner. What kinds are the best?
Easy to use etc...I want to get the most for the money.

I would also like to have some means of transferring whats on the computer
screen to the classroom TV.

What types of software do I need ? Are there any good books are
  resoures availabe ?

Although I am excited about this new challenge , I am also a novice.

Any help will be greatly appreciated .

  Thank yo in advance,

Sharon
