Hi Betty,
Another way to get transparent/translucent images is to cut squares of
clear contact paper, remove the backing and adhere (totally burnish) the
squares on to cheap (thin) paper magazine images. Put the squares in a tub
of water for at least 30 minutes. The adhesive in the contact paper will
"lift off" the ink from the magazine page. Under gently running water, use
fingers to gently rub off any paper "fuzz" that may be sticking. Bright
contrasts of color, line and shape work the best. You can add to the images
with the techniques you mentioned you are using.
