I'll take Grandparent's Day ideas too
Hi, again, Brianne,
I suggest "Grandparent Portraits". My second graders brought in picture of a
grandparent (or a meaningful person in their lives if they didn't have a
grandparent or grandparent picture) and then created portraits from them. They
were fabulous- wrinkles, grey hair, double chins and all! They sketched in
pencil, went over the pencil lines with black Sharpie, then used water colors and
then oil pastels for details. The classroom teachers facilitated the
students writing about a special memory with the grandparent and I mounted the
writing under the portrait. It made a wonderful display and was one piece of art
that was kept and treasured!
