So now this is my understanding. The mandala design is created
basically by the person (for meditation-of which I knew). The
kaleidoscope is the instrument that creates the design. Either
way you have , in most cases, a symmetrical design, radial
design, rose window. lol........ So if I was to properly
address the high school students about making radial designs, I
basically could approach it either way. When I see books that
state "make your own kaleidoscope", I usually just see the
design in radial symmetry. I guess I am thinking that it is a
little false advertising here. After all, the kaleidoscope is
an instrument. Oh, but if it says, make your own kaleidoscope
design, it could also be make your own mandala design. I am
laughing as I am either getting deeper into thought or way off
one. Sorry guys, I am in a silly mood.
I did the lesson and just finihed last week. I got into the
discussion with another art teacher who thought of them as one
in the same. I tried to determine there was a difference.
I will share my mandalas with you all and will give the lesson I
used to approach it. I did not go in deepth on the religious
aspect but just on the end design aspect.
