Has anyone ever done a fantastic project with plaster strips? I don't want
to make masks... I am looking for something different... any ideas? Thanks!
Hi, Breanne,
One of the best and EASIEST (believe it or not) projects my 5th graders did
with Plastercraft was a life-size sculpture of a person in a sitting position
reading a book. George Segal's sculptures were the inspiration. It was a
cooperative learning experience and the kids loved doing it. "Georgina", as the
kids named her, has been a permanent sculpture in the lobby of our school.
There is a full lesson plan in the archives of Getty for that lesson. Breanne,
I remember you at our workshops on LI- I am the workshop coordinator for Long
Island Art Teachers Association. I invite you to my school in Jericho to see
Georgina, and then I can explain exactly how she was created. E-mail me off
list if you are interested.
