I've been using Rubrics for the last three years with much success. The
youngest group that I use it with is my 5th graders however my son, who
attends the same school that I teach at, has been exposed to Rubrics since
3rd grade. The Rubrics I've seen at the lower grade levels are designed to
meet the expectations of that particular grade level and ability.
When I create my Rubric I usually use the RubiStar website,
http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php, where I can build my Rubric online
and print it out. The site provides ready to use Rubrics in various subject
areas that you can look through, print out, or modify. It's a great site to
use if you've never created a Rubric before.
