In my Multimedia class this year, I am including
lesson sequences that address visual culture issues.
My rationale is that if we use software like Adobe
Photoshop to commumicate ideas, then we as the user of
the software need to understand the communication
potential of imagery...I suppose this would be
beneficial in every area that uses visual media now
that I see my thought in type :)
My question is this:
Does anyone know of a source for iconography of
objects, iconography of symbols,gestures and
iconography of color...especially-but not limited to-
how objects and color might mean one thing in Western
culture and another in Eastern culture?
I have two dictionaries of symbols. Even if you just
have one or two examples...from your own
heritage...that would be great.
Any thoughts on this idea would be appreciated. I will
compile the responses to share with anyone who might
be interested.
