Must be an artroom thing - we had major construction last year. We are SO
proud of our pretty new building. Course in my room I still don't have a
light switch cover, I have a hole in my window just big enough to shoot
pencils out of, when they put the new handicapped accessible door in they
didn't mud the sheetrock seems - just taped them up and painted over them,
didn't replace the 8' square piece of carpeting in my artroom, and just
painted over the "dirty" spots on the wall with a different color of paint.
Our new superintendant came in and said "your room is really bad" - I just
looked at him and said "you think?". Course on the plus side, they did
replace the asbestos tiles that were popping up off the floor due to a water
leak (not sure if they fixed the leak, but they put in new tiles!). AND that
is just in my high school room - I have 2 elementary rooms and a library to
maintain as well, each with their own unique problems. :-)

<snip>At least you have new windows. I walked into my room and found one of
my huge windows broken and boarded up. All I get is shrugs when I ask about
getting it fixed. It looks terrible--slum city ghetto. I'm thinking about
getting the kids to do some graffiti art on the boards to go along with the
'theme.' I think some of them are pretty good at it. BTW last spring, some
of my 5th grade boys were very impressed with some lettering I did. I
overheard one of them say, "Wow, dude, she's good! She could be a tagger!" I
took it as a compliment.
