Due to new fire regulations in schools, no art work is allowed in the hallways or entrance. We cannot hang anything on our doors, outside our classroom on the cork strip or within 5 feet of our door INSIDE our room. (I had to cut off and remove a part of my bulletin board display) Nothing is allowed to hang on the walls unless it is on a bulletin board. Nothing. The schools look like they are closed up for the summer yet there are students walking around. It looks so dreary and sad and somewhat surreal to me.
We can hang things on our desk or file cabinets but that's it!
I don't know where to hang the life-size mummy cases I have the 4th graders do. I may skip that project this year.
Also, they cut an art teacher last year and rather than hiring a new one we have to double up and/or split classes. My K class has 28 kids with NO AIDE! I also have 30 big 4th graders. The poor music teacher has 47 first graders on early out days.
Anyone else experiencing a similar situation?

  Carolyn
