Jana,

Expression magazine had a fairly detailed article for drying and working
with gourds. Sounds like a lot more trouble than I'd want to go
through; you need protection from the molds growing on them.

Sharon Henneborn gave a wonderful presentation at NAEA a few years ago
on observational drawing of various types of squashes and gourds. I'm
planning to use her idea later in the season when the area pumpkin farm
opens to the public, hoping they'll let us come and sketch.
