Hi,
I was thrilled to see this thread! I saw the Women Beyond Borders Boxes
while walking throught the Altanta Airport in the summer of 2002. It was
stunning, moving and wonderful.

Subject: Women Beyond Borders -Wooden box exhibit
Dear Friends in Art Education,
Here is an exhibit you will like
Women Beyond Borders - it all started with a wooden box:
http://www.womenbeyondborders.org/ex_intro.htm
Women Beyond Borders is an inspiring, thought-provoking, and aesthetically
thrilling project. The connections it has fostered among nations and among
women are remarkable. It also becomes a testament to the unbounded
possibilities of human creativity, tested here in the seemingly simple
transformation of the same small wooden box.
Wouldn't it be great if you could get your industrial tech people to cut you
pieces to make your own boxes? I know that even boys would have fun doing
this project.
My boys loved doing the mancala boards -tech kids made the boards out of
wood - and my students woodburned them.
You can buy an official Women Beyond Borders box - but they are a bit
pricey. This lesson has so many possibilities! Patty - I know you are
reading. They factory was in business today (smile).
Make it a treasure box for and about an artist if you wish - or personal
self portraits - or heroes - or....
I will save this link to put in Incredible Artists in for Women's History
Month.
