Well, it's hot here a lot. I'd plan on doing lino carving in the hot months so
it could be stashed in my hot car before class or left on the sunny side walk
for a few moments or set in the sunny window.

It does get harder over time, but heating it when you're about to carve
shouldn't cause major drying out.
