What about 'haunting' as well as 'horror' and 'scary'?

Like Magritte's "Time Transfixed' - the painting of the train coming out of
the fireplace -
one of Chris Van Alsberg's (sp? - used to know it) books... 'Harris
Burdick' - has some great illustrations for writing prompts - especially
dark stories....
