Thanks to everyone who responded to my question. This is what I did:
Since the piece has relief areas, I couldn't use the plaster or sheetrock
over the slab. So it's placed on a piece of 1/4" plywood, inside a large
plastic bag, with a magazine on top.

I know it will dry VERY slowly,, but we have the time. Thanks again,
