first sketch book assignment

Hello,
I'm looking for some ideas on a first sketch book assignment for my 7th and
8th graders. Keep in mind that we a currently doing a collage assignment and
I do plan to get into an introduction on contour drawing, but I need
something for them now.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
