Do a study on community water fountains. Play Respighi's "Fountains of
Rome." The students can use their imaginations to design a water fountain
for their home or neighborhood and school. Make some 3-D models out of
scrap water resistant junk and take them outside to a sidewalk on a hot day
for some fun with a hose to see how the water flows from top down. Good
science lesson on the weight and force of water!
Introduce the students to Paul Klee's "Sinbad the Sailor." Also, for
drama on water, look to Winslow Homer and Joseph Turner.
Make a word wall of water words, its physical qualities and evokations.
Make a name and its reflection.
