Here in westchester where I live in a fairly affluent community, many of my
children's friend's parents work in manhattan. When we hear personal
stories, I think it brings the horror a little bit more into reality. As
many have expressed already, the whole thing seems so surreal.
My daughter's friend's dad works at the World Trade Center. He jumped but
only sustained a broken arm. It seems that something broke his fall. I
haven't gotten all the details. The three other workers who jumped with him
Another friend of my daughter's uncle works at the World Trade Center. He
brought his wife and children to work today to visit for some reason. So far
nobody has been able to get in touch with any of them.
The boyfriend of one of my co-teachers at work started a new job at the World
Trade Center yesterday. She was unable to get in touch with him all day.
Innocent victims have a face. They are flesh and blood...real people...not
surreal...with real lives and real families and real friends and real loved
ones. I never quite realized what a fragile world we live in. We will all
remember what we did today. I will never forget. Eileen
