I love the idea of painting pillow cases- I hadn't even thought of that.
They could carry them around all day and we'll display it that night at the
ceremony. How would you suggest painting them? What kind of paint?

not sure about the display end of this at your school, but what about having
the kids paint pillow cases illustrating your theme of "what an artist
dreams" and then stuffing them with pillows to go along with "pajama day"?
