Don't feel dumb!!! Not every state requires the Praxis subject matter test
for certification. The Praxis tests are designed to test a teacher's
knowledge in his/her subject area. There are actually 4 Art subject matter
tests. In CT you only have to take three. In CT, we do not have to take the
test that is heavy with art ed methods/art ed history, etc. WE take all the
other tests though. They have tests for almost every subject. Ele. Ed,
Spanish, chemistry, math, social studies, on and on. It is just part of the
certification process. A bunch of stuff...very expensive to take and you
must pass them before you can get your CT (or other state) Teacher
Certification.
