you think YOU have scheduling stories! LOL

I have come to the conclusion that NOTHING can be done right in the city of
NY. Our district wanted us to have block scheduling, I guess, and gave us a
schedule so chock full of errors that I don't believe it can be fixed. I bet
they have to start from scratch. So even though the kids came in
well-behaved and patient, after 2 days of program chaos, their behavior is
breaking down in the hallways already--I see we're going to lose them.

I have 11 different classes!  THat would be about 330 report cards with 3
grades and 2 comments each, not to mention learning names! The only "normal"
day on my schedule is Friday, where I have 2 blocks-2 classes, which I
personally think is a dream!  (But today was Friday, and it must have been a
dream because NO KIDS EVEN SHOWED UP! They had a double block of PE at the
same time as Art.) The rest of the schedule is a mess!  I have some classes
one period a WEEK, like it's elementary school!  Some  meet twice a week!
One class 4 times, one class 3x! I can't imagine planning, pacing,
organizing, storing, for this schedule--its all over the place!

There were lots of scheduling errors today and yesterday. Some teachers had
the same class ALL DAY! THey are supposed to try to fix the schedule by
Tuesday, but I think they'll have to start from scratch. I can't wait to see
if they can.

On top of all this, the office said we got more than 100 new admits yesterday
and today, a couple kids even showed up ALONE to try to register! We have
new APs and deans, about 10 new International Teachers and Teaching Fellows,
can you just imagine what they're thinking?!!!.

Nothing is ever easy here, but everyone is trying their best to be zen-like
about it all~! What a shame.....
