I do not mean to step on toes, I am just trying to understand how the
different degrees are set up.
My last student teacher did all her methods placements in 8th grade English
classes...through the Education Department. She had never set foot in an Art
classroom before starting student teaching. I might add that she did not
finish. But if she had, she would have had a BA in Education with a
concentration in Visual Arts and would have been able to teach pk-12 art.
My question is how can you be an art teacher when you are taught the Madeline
Hunter style of teaching? If you follow Hunter, you end up with "school art."
Maybe I'm just way off track on this.
Just to let you know, when I decided to go into Art Ed and not
Painting/Printmaking,
I had friends who stopped talking to me!
