Portfolio students

We are a new high school so we don't have a Portfolio class yet. I have 3
seniors who have been added to my Foundations classes to work on developing
a portfolio. I have no time to work with them, but I would like to guide
them with a basic list of what should be included in their work. For those
of you who teach a portfolio class, what do you require in terms of subject
matter, media etc.? I appreciate any ideas you would be willing to share.
