Hi all,
I would like to extend an invitation for any high school art
teacher to attend the following event in Milwaukee, at Mount Mary
College. The
co$t is quite reasonable and for those of you nearby, but who have
never been to MMC, it's easy to find....so if you are in the northern
Illinois regions or southern Wisconsin, please consider joining us on
this day. If you'd like to get a brochure, you can email Sistar Carla
whose address is below.
It's taking place on Saturday, October 14, and is open to all
secondary art teachers statewide and nearby regions.
The purpose of the day is to surface BEST PRACTICES in the art room,
such as management, technology, promoting your program,
skills/techniques in media (what works!). The day has been designed
with the thought that we can each benefit from the experiences of
others. As a result of this day's sharing, we hope to produce materials
that will assist pre-service and first year art teachers as well as
contribute creative ideas to veterans in the field.
Acting as a catalyst in this process, Dr. Martin Rayala, PhD., Art
and Design Education Consultant in the Wisconsin Department of Public
Instruction, will present "Adding Design to Your School's Art
Program", which will include the four areas of environments,
information, objects, and experiences, and what students should know
and be able to do in each area. The structure of the day will include
Marty's insights, as well as breakout sessions to discuss specific
interests, and is appropriate for high school teachers with any level of
classroom experience.
A brochure was sent out in earlier this month with details of the
day and registration materials. Cost : $15 (includes refreshments and
lunch). Contact person:
Sister Carla Huebner, SSND, e-mail:huebnec@mtmary.edu (I can also give
you some info, if you want to email me off-list).
Hope to see you there! This should be a stimulating day.
Judy Grochowski
