I have used bamboo as spines for hand-made books. Drill small holes
in the bamboo and sew through to connect spine to book papers.
Also, when my students do Asian inspired vertical scroll shaped
compositions , we mount them on drapery fabric or wallpaper samples in
which we make a channel for inserting a piece of bamboo. Tie string or yarn
on the ends and display.
