I posted TCA's web site and info about the Cultural Connections travel grant
earlier. I'll repost it when I can get back on line. The only stumbling bock
is your school district must be registered and have a password (all grants
are done on line) for you to apply individuals cannot apply for the grants
you need to go through a 501(c)3 organization (non-profit educational
institution). Does anyone know when the TCA starts its grant year? I think
it is January because the big grant we do each year - lots of paper work and
half the staff threatening to quit ;-0 is coming up. The travel grant is
easy don't let my sarcasm about the big grant scare you - you will need to
know registration fees, hotel cost, and lowest possible airfare to apply for
the grant. Pam, can you think of anything else they need to know to apply
for the grant? I'd check, but I can't remember our password, and if I call
the development assistant on the weekend she'll have my head! I'll ask on
Monday. Again I post those URL's later when I can go on-line and find
them.
I can't go on line right now because -------- I'm sitting in a closet with
my laptop, a flashlight, and the weather radio because all hell just broke
loose - and we aren't even under the severe thunderstorm warning. The
important thing is IT'S RAINING IT'S RAINING IT'S RAINING. Here's hoping the
rest of West Texas, North Texas and everywhere else that needs it gets some
decent rain without any of the downside (tornados, downdrafts, flooding,
lightening) hurting anyone. I'm going to put in a DVD and watch the movie as
long as the battery lasts. How about Twister?

Subject: A note to Texas art teachers
I have been following the conversation about the lack of financial support
from districts to cover travel, registration, and substitutes for art
teachers to attend conferences. Are you Texas art teachers aware that Texas
Commission on the Arts provides a grant than can support up to 50% of your
national conference costs?
Notice that I said national conference. The grant will NOT cover state
conferences. TCA considers state conferences a professional commitment that
should be covered by the teacher and the school or district. But, the
national conference is something else.
Anyone from Texas who needs information on how to access this grant (it's
easy!), let me know and I e-mail details. The application must be applied
for online and there are a few details you will need to cover with your
principal before applying.
Regards,
Pam
