A note to Texas art teachers

I have been following the conversation about the lack of financial support
from districts to cover travel, registration, and substitutes for art
teachers to attend conferences. Are you Texas art teachers aware that Texas
Commission on the Arts provides a grant than can support up to 50% of your
national conference costs?

Notice that I said national conference. The grant will NOT cover state
conferences. TCA considers state conferences a professional commitment that
should be covered by the teacher and the school or district. But, the
national conference is something else.

Anyone from Texas who needs information on how to access this grant (it's
easy!), let me know and I e-mail details. The application must be applied
for online and there are a few details you will need to cover with your
principal before applying.
