About 20 years ago , we lived not far from the town of Edgefield, S.C . The
owner of an antique shop there collected pottery by a slave named Dave, who
had lived and worked in that area. Evidently, he was one of the few potters
of the time that signed his work. That is about all I remember.Maybe you
could check the state of S.C. Dept of Archives and History.
