Has anyone seen these "Behind the Scenes" series? I have heard some good
things about the one featuring David Hockney. I am still looking for videos
suitable for younger children---these "Behind the Scenes" are rated for
grades 4 through 6.
I previewed "Lichtenstein: Reflections"-- This video is about 30 minutes
long---but you would not have to show all of it. It features some mural work
and the "Reflections" series, but also shows some of his other noted works
in various galleries. The interviews with him are good---he was rather
charming. This would be good for grades 6 and up.
"Matisse in Nice" - a no-no. It is primarily about his nude paintings and
shows nude women modeling (ooooo.....wouldn't that make a few hairs stand on
end?). I have seen parts of another Matisse video that was so boring I
couldn't even watch it all! I am searching for one suited for middle grades
(that would have segments suitable for younger children)--maybe one showing
the collage work? Let me know if you have seen one.
I guess I should "fess up" to you folks-- so many have wondered how I have
time to do all of this. I am off school right now, but should be returning
in about two weeks.
