Some variations I have used have included: pairing off, providing an art
reproduction ( I chose Mona and a few others) Have one person be the
model (counting off before they know what it is for helps 1 models 2
draws) is the model and positions their hands like the person in the
art work... Try for same lighting .... Them draw from the posed model.
Switch... Called this Monas parts and pieces back in the 80's with 15
year olds.
Have them hold something... shell, kitchen appliance... and the drawing
is a line drawing of to grasp or hold.
Try reverse drawing draw the string hand wit your non drawing hand...
i.e.... right handers place the pencil in their left hand...I preface
this with " do you trust me?" and go around and ask them try try it, on
an individual basis... It fascinates many students that the weak hand
drawing can been even more sensitive.
Try variety... Last year at a co-art techer's request we just drew 20
hands. It was pretty grueling....I would provide variety.
