READING a story to children to introduce a lesson or concept is not
integrating Language Arts into the art lesson. You must use strategies that
develop reading skills, for example, prediciting (ask them what the title
means or what they think will happen next), reinforce vocabulary. I really
push the art vocabulary, with students, with teachers etc, to make the
understand art has a specific vocabulary that is important in helping a
student verbally describe his/her environment and experiences. I also use
point of view (this is very important in reading/writing as well as art)
quite often. It is worth the time to make friends with your LA or
reading/writing person. You will find many of the techniques and skills
taught in reading and writing are similar to those taught in aesthetics and
art history lessons.

Just an FYI!
