"Linnea in Monet's Garden" is both a lovely book and video. Linnea and
her friend, a grandfatherly man named Mr. Bloom have enjoyed the prints of
Monet's waterlillies together. They travel to France and visit the art
museum and Monet's house and garden. It's shows how to visit a museum,
explains Monet's style of painting and shows a wholesome relationship
between the two characters. It combines Monet's work, the book
illustrations and photographs. It's about 30 min. long. I've shown it
primarily to my 3rd graders as a prelude to a Monet project. They loved
it. We did a watercolor wash, then used mod podge to make waterlillies,
cat tails, fish, etc. I showed it to 2nd graders a couple of years ago and
they didn't understand it as quite as well as the 3rd graders did.
